Dolly de Leon reveals Eugene Domingo paid for her son's tuition for 3 years

Dolly de Leon opened up on her friendship with Eugene Domingo and shared how her fellow actress helped her in a big way when she was struggling to make ends meet.

On Wednesday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Dolly said that there was a time when she couldn't pay the electricity bill and her son had to stop going to school because she also couldn't pay the tuition fee.

"A lot of friends came to support me. Uge's one of them. She paid for my son's tuition for three years," Dolly revealed.

Dolly said she and Eugene knew each other back when they were teenagers. Dolly added that they were also in the same barkada at the University of the Philippines under the theater arts program, learning under Tony Mabesa.

"Even if she reached that superstardom level already, she was always a friend. She was always, you know, Uge as we know her so 'yun, totoong kaibigan ang tingin ko talaga sa kanya," she said.

Dolly said Eugene also helped her navigate the awards season after her historic nominations at the Golden Globes and British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs).

"Kumbaga, dinaanan niya 'to e so alam niya kung anong gagawin," Dolly said.

"Binigyan niya ako ng tips on—I know it sounds mababaw—pero binigay niya akong tips kung anong sapatos susuotin. 'Magbaon ka lagi ng flats,' ganyan," she added.

Dolly has finished filming her Hollywood movie, "Grand Death Lotto," which also stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and John Cena.

She also finished shooting an upcoming independent film, "Between the Temples," and will begin work on an upcoming series for the streamer Amazon Prime in August.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) also recently honored Dolly with the Annual Achievement Award.
