Iza Calzado talks about difficult first few weeks after giving birth: 'I am still recovering from it all'
Iza Calzado is nine weeks postpartum and she just got real about the challenges of being a new, first-time mom.
She posted an Instagram photo carrying her baby girl a few days after giving birth.
According to Iza, it was taken “right after I cried so hard from a few ‘failures' I felt I had as a new mother mixed with the deep love I was feeling for my child, the kind I have never felt for anyone before.”
The actress added that the first few days and even weeks were “quite a punch.”
“Hindi siya madali. I am still recovering from it all but every day gets better and better,” she said. “This is, by far, the most challenging yet fulfilling journey I have been on and I know it is only the beginning.”
Iza said she is going through her journey “with faith, compassion, gratitude and love knowing I am divinely guided and supported.”
And despite all the challenges, Iza is one happy and grateful mom.
“Grabe, what a ride! I am becoming, I am evolving into — wait.. I am a Mother! An imperfectly perfect Mother to my precious child, Deia. Biruin mo yun? A gift indeed. Thank You, Lord!” she said.
Iza gave birth last January and announced the news this March. It is her first child with husband Ben Wintle.
