Parokya Ni Edgar's Gab Chee Kee discharged from the hospital
Parokya Ni Edgar’s Gab Chee Kee has been discharged after spending two months in the hospital.
In an Instagram update, vocalist Chito Miranda shared a photo of a smiling Gab in a wheelchair, holding his guitar.
“After 2 months in the hospital due to pneumonia (more than a month dun, intubated sa ICU), and after several major and minor operations dealing with complications brought about by his condition, sa wakas...pina-uwi na si Gab sa bahay nila,” Chito wrote in his caption.
Chito also thanked the fans and everyone who helped out.
“He was able to get the best medical attention dahil nagtulung-tulong tayo...and now, he could finally continue with his chemotherapy.”
He added that Gab needs to build strength for the chemo. “The important thing is that we are back on track,” he said. “Kumbaga, balik tayo sa main event...his fight against Lymphoma.”
Chito and the rest of Parokya, however, are determined.
“We will win this battle,” Chito said. "Many years from now, when me and my bandmates are old and gray, babalik balikan namin nila Gab yung kwento about how he fought and survived cancer, and how everyone helped out...and it will always be one hell of an inspirational story."
Last January, it was revealed that Gab was hospitalized due to pneumonia, a complication brought on by his lymphoma.
Their friends in the industry helped raise funds, including an Eraserheads-signed guitar that sold for P1.3 million and Francis M’s polo in the “Bagsakan” music video.
A fundraising gig titled Resbak Para Kay Gab, featuring top OPM artists, was held on March 4.
