Carla Abellana says she’s happy with divorce from Tom Rodriguez

Carla Abellana is happy that Tom Rodriguez chose to file for divorce in the United States.

On Thursday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the Kapuso actress said she was relieved they chose that process instead of going through annulment in the Philippines. 

“We’re actually very happy na he decided na ‘yon ang i-file niya para hindi na po kami mag-file pa ng petition for nullity dito sa Pilipinas,” she said.

“Masaya kami do’n kasi nga hindi na namin kailangan ilabas yung mga sama ng loob or dirty laundry ng bawat isa. We don’t have to go through that entire process ng annulment dito po sa atin.”

Tom announced in June last year that he is already divorced from Carla, who has now filed for a petition for recognition of the foreign judgment. If approved by the court, her civil status will be single again.

In the same interview, Carla revealed the reasons that lead to their separation. It came to a point where she’s had enough, she said.

While Carla would love to experience love again, she admitted she doesn’t see herself marrying again.

For now, she is focusing on herself, the blessings she has, work, and the people surrounding her.

Carla and Tom tied the knot in October 2021. They were together for seven years. — LA, GMA Integrated News
