Here are over 200 ways to say 'I love you' in the Philippines


How do we say "I love you?" Let us count the ways.

On Valentine's Day, the University of the Philippines Department of Linguistics released over 200 ways of saying "I love you" in Philippine languages.

According to their Facebook post, the list was compiled by Prof. Ernesto Constantino and other members of the department back in 1967.

Among the languages in the list are Agutaynon, Badjao, Bato Bikol, Davaoeño, Ivana Ivatan, Iraya, Guihing Manobo, Sulu Sinubanen, Yakan, and Zamboangueño.
