Faith Da Silva admits she used to feel ashamed that her dad Dennis is in jail
Faith Da Silva has admitted that she used to feel ashamed of the fact that her father, former actor Dennis da Silva, is in jail.
According to Tuesday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the "Unica Hija" star said has not seen her dad for over 20 years, ever since his arrest when she was two years old.
Dennis was found guilty of 15 counts of rape in 2020 and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was also convicted on four counts of child abuse.
Faith said her mom was supportive of her meeting her dad, but the actress said she was still immature when she was younger.
"Kinahiya ko lang naman noon dahil hindi ko naiintidihan ko ano 'yung mga nagyayari," she said.
"S'yempre bata ako eh, sino ba namang gugustuhin na magkuwento ka sa mga classmates mo, 'Ah, 'yung dad ko is in jail.' Who would want to say that? No one."
Faith said, however, that she has already forgiven her dad.
"Medyo matagal-tagal na na napatawad ko siya. I've made peace with the fact na you know, 'yung buhay na meron ako ay hindi normal," she said.
Asked for her message to Dennis, Faith said no longer thinks about everything that happened in the past.
"We can always start over, gusto ko ma-experience 'yung pagmamahal ng tatay at alam ko sa 'yo ko lang 'yun makukuha," she said. "Pero hindi ko mamadaliin ang lahat, maghihintay ako."
"Pag naging ready ka na, pag naging fully ready na rin ako at 'yung pagkakataon ibigay sa atin ng Diyos alam ko na 'yun 'yung magiging life changing moment sa buhay ko."
