Sunshine Cruz opens up on breakup with Macky Mathay
Sunshine Cruz has opened up on her breakup with Macky Mathay.
On Thursday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Sunshine said she did not talk about their separation despite their public relationship since there were kids involved.
"I chose to be quiet because merong mga bata na involved—mga anak niya na napamahal sa akin at 'yung mga anak ko na napamahal kay Macky," she said.
"Nag-decide ako na maging quiet na lang kasi hindi naman talaga alam ng publiko kung ano 'yung mga pinagdadaanan namin or kung ano 'yung pinagdaanan ko," she added.
The "Underage" star did not go into details, but she said that trust was gone in her relationship with both Macky and ex-husband Cesar Montano.
"Tatlo ang importanteng bagay sa relationship—hindi lang love. Dapat nando'n ang trust, nando'n ang respect. 'Pag merong isang nawala do'n, it's not going to work."
At age 45, Sunshine said she realized that there comes a point where you will feel that a relationship has ended.
"Hindi na dapat pinapatagal. Of course, you give chances—hanggang 10 pa nga na beses magbibigay ka pero you wake up one day at mari-realize na wala nang patutunguhan ang relationship," she said.
"You just have to be thankful for the years you've been together. Naging maganda 'yung pagsasama n'yo, nagmahalan kayo, naging inspiration kayo sa isa't isa."
Asked if there was a third party involved in her breakup with Macky, Sunshine said, "Wala ako sa posisyon magsalita tungkol diyan."
Currently, Sunshine said she is just focusing on the good things in her life including her family and work.
"I'm sure merong ibang plano si God para sa 'kin and kung ano man 'yon, hihintayin ko. Kung merong dumating, okay lang. Ang importante, nandiyan ang mga anak ko. Mahal ako ng mga anak ko," she said.
"I have work. 'Di ako nawawalan ng proyekto and that's all that matters. I'm blessed."
Macky and Sunshine were together for years. Her marriage with Cesar, meanwhile, got annulled in 2018 but they have been spending time together for their kids.
