How Rain Matienzo’s mom reacted to her first on-screen kiss

Rain Matienzo just had her first on-screen kiss on "Maria Clara at Ibarra," and her mom is all up for it!

As seen on a TikTok video, they watched the scene together. Sitting on a sofa, Rain appeared giddy while her mom looked game but nervous. 

Though Rain’s mom clapped and said Rain did a great job, she screamed all throughout while covering her eyes, as if protecting herself from something shocking.

"Salome niyo, nagpaalam pa kay Mommy at Daddy bago mag ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra,’" she wrote.

As of this writing, the video has attracted over 744,000 views, 50,100 likes, and several comments from fans, who couldn’t help but find the reaction of Rain’s mom hilarious.

Rain plays Salome, the love interest of Elias (Rocco Nacino) in the missing chapter of "Noli Me Tangere," which Dr. Jose Rizal removed from the final manuscript due to a lack of funds.

Titled "Elias at Salome," new editions of the novel now contain the chapter in the appendix, so students who read Noli in high school are familiar with Salome.

Starring Barbie Forteza, Julie Anne San Jose, Dennis Trillo, and David Licauco, "Maria Clara at Ibarra" has been making headlines left and right for its portrayal of Rizal’s novel.
