Dennis Trillo loves being a hands-on dad to Dylan: 'Natutunan ko na 'yung mga pagkukulang ko'

Dennis Trillo just loves being a girl dad.

After he and Jennylyn Mercado welcomed their unica hija Dylan in April, the couple has been sharing some sweet moments with her on social media.

In an interview on “Updated with Nelson Canlas," Dennis said that his experience with Dylan is his first time being a hands-on dad.

“Hindi ako nakatutok [sa eldest son, Calix] talaga katulad ng nagagawa ko ngayon [kay Dylan] na kahit papaano nakakalungkot pero at the same time realization na, alam mo 'yun, mga bata pa kami nun,” he said.

Calix is Dennis’ teenage son with ex-girlfriend Carlene Aguilar whom they co-parent.

“At least ngayon natutunan ko na yung mga pagkukulang ko dati and mas nagagawa ko na ng mabuti ngayon, dahil parang ginagawa kong effort para makabawi doon sa mga pagkukulang dati,” Dennis added.

The Kapuso Drama King gave an example of his routine as a girl dad to their newborn. He said that normally, he takes a shower uping arriving home from work.

"Kasi syempre galing ako sa labas. Hindi ako basta bigla na lang lumalapit sa baby. Tsaka si Jen mahigpit diyan eh,” he said.

Even if he finishes taping late, Dennis would still do his dad duties. He shared that he and Jennylyn keep timers for their baby to know when she needs to be fed and when her diaper needs to be changed.

“Pag-uwi ko sa trabaho, pag nakapag-linis na ako, at gawin ko na ang trabaho ko bilang daddy. So pinalitan ko siya ng diaper, pagkatapos nun, gutom na din siya so magtitimpla ako ng gatas, papa-dedehin ko siya,” he said.

“After nun, kailangan ko siyang patulugin ulit. Swerte ako pag nakatulog siya kaagad, kasi pwede na ako magpahinga pagkatapos. Tapos nun, bandang 6 a.m., gigising naman ako kasi kailangan ko siya painumin ulit ng gamot,” he added.

Right after that, Dennis would then head to taping.

“Madalas simula kanina paggising ko ng 6, dire-diretso na ako, hindi pa ako nakakatulog ulit,” he said.

“So ganun yung trabaho ko, para may idea ka kung ano ginagawa ko, kung gaano ko ka-hands on talaga," he added.

Although the couple has yet to fully reveal Dylan’s face — they have been giving glimpses in some posts — Dennis said that they will introduce her very soon on their YouTube channel.

“In-e-enjoy muna namin siya na sa amin lang in private. [Alam] mo na private person [ako] pero malapit na rin. Makikita niyo din,” he said.
