Aicelle Santos appeals for help as mom remains in coma 3 weeks after cardiac arrest
Aicelle Santos and her family are appealing for help as her mother remains in comatose state three weeks after suffering a cardiac arrest.
On Instagram, Thursday, the Kapuso singer shared a GoFundMe page her brother Aaron set up to raise funds for their mom's growing medical bills.
According to Aaron, 60-year-old Leonila "Onnie" Santos had to be revived by doctors and she remains in critical condition.
"Three weeks ago, my mother Onnie's heart stopped for nine minutes. It was enough to do a lot of damage to her brain, and to this day she remains unconscious in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital close to home in Manila, Philippines," Aicelle said.
"She has been showing signs of progress—and we have been clinging to these as sources of hope. But every day that she remains in the ICU means a sharp spike in her hospital bill, and it is expected to reach an amount far more than my family's capacity to pay," she added.
Aicelle said they are knocking into everyone's kind hearts to help them in this difficult journey. They are expecting the bill for the first month of treatment to amount to P4 million.
"Our Mommy is still in there. She is fighting, and we're going to fight with her," she said.
