Cherie Gil’s daughter Bianca pens touching letter to mom: ‘You are finally free’

Bianca Rogoff, Cherie Gil’s daughter with Israeli violinist Rony Rogoff, has written a heartwarming tribute to her mom on Instagram.

More than a month since the veteran actress passed away, Bianca said she wanted to post about the death when she was ready, “but I’m not sure [I] will be,” she said.

Alongside a photo of them together, Bianca said, “I felt you today, guiding me with your lightness; easing my heart into love and compassion and straying away from negative thoughts. [T]hank you.”

Bianca also wrote about how she remembers Cherie in the smallest things.

“I felt you in the sun. It didn’t rain, which felt rare. then in the laughter of my cousin as we sat sharing a juice. I could feel you and her dad, my uncle, smiling at us. It’s amazing how far we’ve come,” she said.

“I feel you now as I write this—with a few tears coming down my face as the American couple next to me laughs while doing a puzzle,” Bianca added.

“I think of your adventurous spirit—your laugh, asking 'what’s the plan, Eigenmann!' and saying 'aaalright' when you were excited about what we came up with. Wanting us to live life with joy and not taking things too seriously.”

Bianca added that her grief comes in waves. “What puts me at ease is knowing the ease you’re feeling now that you are finally free—the true bohemian you always wanted to be,” she said.

“[B]efore you passed you told me to go, and so I’m going. with and for you.”

Bianca ended her letter by telling her mom, I love you and thank you.

Cherie’s death from a rare form of endometrial cancer on August 5 came as a huge shock to the Philippine showbiz industry, and numerous tributes for her poured in from fans and fellow artists.
