Iya Villania reveals she made the first move on Drew Arellano
Iya Villania is not afraid to go after what she wants!
On the pilot episode of "Life with the Arellanos" podcast, which launched on Monday, Iya and husband Drew Arellano looked back on their love story as their introduction for the pod.
Drew and Iya first met in 2003 when they both starred in GMA's youth-oriented show "Click."
According to Iya, she knew she liked Drew back then because he wasn't flirty, unlike the other casts, which the Kapuso host guessed was because of Drew's age gap with them.
"You're mature and you're past the landian stage," Iya said, adding that it set Drew apart from all the boys she was with.
In Drew's point of view, he already had a crush on Iya even before "Click" when he saw her in a Telco commercial.
But since Drew admitted that he doesn't mix work with his private life, he didn’t make a move on Iya while they were on a show together. In fact, Drew said that he was supposed to be just a "bridge" between Iya and Sid Lucero, which the couple fondly calls "Timmy."
"The closer he [Sid] was getting [to me], the more scared I was also getting because I had to face my truth, which was I actually like you [Drew]," Iya said in the podcast.
Somewhere along those times, Iya and Drew admitted that they both knew they already liked each other, but Drew was treating Iya like a "little sister."
"And I was like, I am not your little sis! Because that's not how I see you," the Kapuso broadcaster said with a laugh.
After several more commercials and projects together, Drew and Iya got closer to each other. So much so that Iya made the first move to give Drew their first kiss.
"I thought I could kiss you because I thought you’d kiss me back. But he got turned off because he was like, 'this girl was aggressive,'" Iya looked back, then Drew burst out laughing.
"I didn't reciprocate because I thought that shouldn't happen. But eventually, we would kiss, but there was no label,” Drew added.
Then during a car ride in 2004, Iya decided to stop beating around the bush and asked Drew what the actual score was between them.
"He was like, 'I'm glad you asked because I think I'm ready,'" Iya said, followed by a sarcastic question to Drew, "who is the girl here?"
Ten years after that fateful yet funny moment, Iya and Drew tied the knot in 2014. They have four children: Primo, Leon, Alana, and Astro, who they just welcomed in June.
We can't wait to hear more of your story on the podcast, Iya and Drew!
