Cherie Gil's son pens heartbreaking tribute to mom: 'What I’d give for just another minute'

Raphael Eigenmann Rogoff, Cherie Gil’s son with Israeli violinist Rony Rogoff, has penned a heart-wrenching tribute to his mom on Instagram.

Posting photos with the veteran actress, Raphael said, “You were a gift to this world. You touched every life that you came across, whether through the silver screen, on stage, or in person.”

“To your most prized fans, you were Cherie Gil, La Primera Contravida. To some, Evangeline Rose; or perhaps Cheech. To me, simply, Momma—my homie. What a luxury," he added.

Raphael further described his mom as “a light that filled every room with pure warmth and bliss” and “the life of every party and the party to [his] life.”

He added, “Your laugh, wit, and humor, resonated deeply with all who had the pleasure of basking in it.”

Raphael then shared the important lessons he learned from Cherie.

“You taught me to love unconditionally and bathe in the beauty of emotions; to appreciate every moment, big or small, happy or sad,” he said.

“You showed me how to live freely; with no care in the world. Always wearing your heart on your sleeve and unapologetically being yourself. Always," he added.

Raphael thanks his mother for the "greatest gift": "this life, and your love."

“What I’d give for just another minute to spend with you—No amount of time would ever be enough. What I’d do to see you crack that unforgettable smile of yours; the one that radiated with so much joy," he said."

“When I think of home, I will always think of you; carrying you with me always," he added.

Cherie’s death from a rare form of endometrial cancer on August 5 came as a huge shock to the Philippine showbiz industry, and numerous tributes for her poured in from fans and fellow artists.
