Laundrywoman in Cavite receives washing machine as birthday, Mother's Day gift from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A mom working as a laundrywoman in Cavite received a washing machine for her 64th birthday and as an early Mother's Day gift from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a "24 Oras" report on Thursday, Teresita Atienza had been washing clothes with her hands since she went to Metro Manila when she was 12 years old.

She also works as a mushroom bagger and at times, a grass cutter for extra income. As she turns a year older, her only wish is to make work easier for herself.

"Sana po magkaroon ako ng washing (machine). Hindi naman po ako makabili dahil wala naman talaga akong pera. Napapagod na po ako sa paglalaba," she said.

("I hope I'll get my own washing machine. I can't buy because I really have no money. I'm tired of washing clothes.")

The GMA Kapuso Foundation visited her home in Trece Martires and answered her request. Aside from this, a total of her 100 co-workers also received a free medical examination.

Seventy-one women in the area, meanwhile, underwent a free pap smear and breast examination. They were also taught how to do a self-breast examination.

All of them received grocery items, face masks, vitamins, slippers, and beauty kits.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
