Kris Aquino on Mel Sarmiento: ‘Paano mag-babalikan sa taong hindi mo na pinagkakatiwalaan?'

Kris Aquino shared her feelings of doubt and disappointment towards former Interior Secretary Mel Sarmiento weeks after she revealed they have broken up.

Replying to Lolit Solis’ Instagram post about whether or not they might reunite, Kris clarified that they did not and will not get back together anymore.

“Hindi kami nag-balikan. I just felt peace,” she wrote. “The past no longer felt like something I needed to erase. Iniwan niya ako when I was at my lowest and ginawa niya ‘yon via text.”

“Paano mag-babalikan sa taong hindi mo na pinagkakatiwalaan at ngayon alam mo nang ‘di ka minahal at ginamit ka lamang?” she added. “The end. Move on na.”

According to Kris, she spent time finding clarity about what she shared with her ex-fiance and found the answers when they talked through FaceTime audio days ago.

“Matagal ako tahimik na nagdasal, questioning if for both of us, was it ever really love or was it just grief, timing, and infatuation?” Kris continued.

“Basing it on that final conversation, it became clear to me what his true feelings for me had been and how little respect I had left for him,” she added.

According to Kris, not only did Mel hurt her children, especially Bimby, he also avoided her sister, who reached out.

“Mel failed to have the common decency to acknowledge that he hurt Bimb and never once checked on how my son was taking all of this,” she said.

“It spoke volumes to me nung nalaman ko from my Ate that she had tried several times to message Mel trying to find a way to communicate with him & hopefully still create a bridge but he actually snubbed my Ate.”

She added that what really opened her eyes was when Sarmiento made up stories about how close he was to Kris’ brother, the late former Philippine President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“Siguro yung final straw for me was the fact kinaya niyang mag-imbento ng napakaraming kwento bilang ‘patunay’ na close talaga sila ni Noy, eh may parang Alvin si Noy.”

Going back to her core that “family will always come first,” Kris said she also felt offended by how Mel used Noynoy’s death last June to make it appear like they’ve always been close.

“I feel OA yung ginawang panggamit sa nananahimik na patay kaya it was a relationship na yung entire premise, what led to the closeness was my brother Noy - and because of what I had perceived to be their closeness.”

“Background lang: the [two] boys [and] I lived with Noy for the last [five] weeks before the May 2016 elections and Mel was a constant presence kasi maraming tinatapos na LGU issues,” she added.

Just a few days after New Year, Kris announced that they have split, sharing his last message to her in which he accepted her offer to let him go. They got engaged in October last year. — LA, GMA News
