Woman gives birth to 11.2 lb baby boy via normal delivery in Bulacan

A mother in Bulacan received a very big surprise for Christmas this year.

Janice Patayan gave birth to a healthy baby boy weighing 5.1 kg or about 11.2 lb through normal delivery on Dec. 12.

In a live interview on "Unang Hirit," the mom said she was "shocked" by the size of her child, but she was very happy nonetheless.

"Medyo mahirap din po kasi malaki pero kinaya naman po," Janice said.

According to a report on GMA's "Unang Balita," the baby named Marion is almost twice the weight of an average-sized newborn in the Philippines.

Janice said she and her husband did not expect such a large baby because her belly seemed to be of normal size.

"Sa mga anak ko naman po may mga malaki, pero hindi po kasing-laki niya," she said.

Janice also shared what she had been craving while carrying Marion: "Sa siopao po, ma'am!"

As a small gift from "Unang Hirit" this Christmas, Janice and her baby received a supply of milk, diapers, and other baby essentials. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
