Nick Cannon’s 5-month old son passes away after being diagnosed with brain tumor
"America's Got Talent" and "Masked Singer" host Nick Cannon has announced that his five-month old son Zen passed away after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
In an episode of his show "Nick Cannon" posted on Instagram, Tuesday, he opened up about his loss and how their family had been grieving.
According to Nick, Zen was "always smiling" and was "just the most beautiful spirit." However, he did notice that his son had sinus and a "real interesting breathing." When Zen turned two months old, Nick said he noticed that Zen had a seemingly large head, but they didn't think much of it.
They then took Zen to the doctor for his sinus and breathing to have it checked.
"We went in just to check his sinuses. They actually said the sinuses were pretty cool, but by that time, we found out that he had another condition. I think it was called if I'm not mistaken, there was fluid that was building up in the head … they called it like a malignant tumor in his head."
Nick said they immediately had their son undergo brain surgery. However, when Thanksgiving arrived, the father said they had an "interesting turn and the process sped up."
"The tumor began to grow a lot faster," he said. "This weekend, I made a valid effort to spend the most quality time I could spend with Zen."
Sharing his last moments with his son while holding back his tears, Nick said: "Holding my son for the last time, it was still a beautiful setting. Not only did we get to see the sunrise, but we also got to see the sunset too."
Nick said he wanted to grieve with his family and he dedicated his show to Zen.
"You never know what somebody is going through. Hug your people, hug your family ... tell them you love them," he said.
Nick and Alyssa Scott welcomed their son Zen in June. In the same month, Nick welcomed his twins Zion and Zillion with Abby de la Rosa.
He also has two children with Brittany Bell and twins with former wife Mariah Carey. – RC, GMA News
