‘Meteor Garden’ star Barbie Hsu, husband Wang Xiao Fei to divorce after 10 years of marriage

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, popularly known as Shan Cai from the 2001 series “Meteor Garden,” filed for divorce from her husband Chinese businessman Wang Xiao Fei after 10 years of marriage.

According to a Straits Times report, the two released a statement Monday through their lawyers.

In the statement, Barbie and Xiao Fei are said to have decided to “divorce amicably” after serious and careful consideration, and have begun related legal proceedings.

“Mr. Wang and Ms Hsu had the joy of meeting and knowing each other and spent a wonderful time together. Even as they separate now, they are thankful for what they have given each other. In the past, they walked as spouses. In the future, they will be parents and friends. They will continue to raise their children together and give them all their love and support,” the statement said.

The statement comes after reports showed that Barbie filed for divorce at the Taipei district court in early November. The two asked to divide assets of around NT$950 million or around PHP 1.7 billion.

As part of the court’s proceedings, the two have reportedly reached an understanding on asset division and arrangements for spending time with their two children.

Rumors of their split circulated back in June, months before they released a statement.

Barbie and Xiao Fei met in 2010 and married in the same year. The two welcomed a daughter in 2014 and a son in 2016. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
