What we learned about #DenJen in Dennis Trillo's proposal speech to Jennylyn Mercado

Newly engaged couple Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado are en route to forever, but what do we know of their journey so far?

The two celebrities celebrated their 7th anniversary in January this year, but they had already dated as early as 2010 before their breaking up in 2011.

They got back together in 2015 after starring in the GMA series "My Faithful Husband."

And now they're engaged with a baby on the way!

In his proposal speech, Dennis opened up about his feelings, and we can't blame Jennylyn for her tears because of the revelations.

1. Dennis wasn't ready back then, but he is now

Dennis prefaced his proposal by telling Jennylyn that she might wonder why it only happened now.

"Hindi pa ako ready noon," he said. "Pero siniguro ko muna na talagang kapag nangyari 'yun, ito na 'yung best version ko."

He then thanked Jennylyn for helping him achieve a better version of himself, something that he didn't realize even existed.

"Akala ko dati, okay na ako, pero ang dami ko pa palang improvements, sobra," he said. "Para sa akin, para sayo."

2. Marrying Jennylyn was Dennis's dream

Dennis referenced their old breakup as he thanked Jennylyn for returning to his life.

"Hindi ko alam kung makakahanap pa ako ng pagmamahal na katulad ng binigay mo sa akin. Kasi talagang sagad eh, at ramdam na ramdam ko 'yun," he said.

Now, Dennis is more sure than ever that Jennylyn is the only one for him.

"Ikaw lang 'yung gusto kong makasama, ikaw at 'yung bagong addition sa pamilya natin," he said. "Isa 'yun sa mga pangarap ko. Matutupad lang 'yung pangarap na 'yung kung papayag kang pakasalan ako."

3. They always manage to laugh together

And we finally get to the big moment!

On cue, the doors behind Jennylyn opened up to reveal a big sign that read "Marry me" just as Dennis went on his knees.

Dennis had just put the ring on Jennylyn's finger and they were both getting emotional, when Jennylyn suddenly said, "Hindi pa ako sumasagot."
It was only then that Dennis remembered to ask, "Will you marry me?"

Amid their laughter, Jennylyn said, "Oo naman!"

Later in the video, Dennis shared that he'd enacted many proposals on television shows and movies — but nothing beats real life.

4. Dennis had to wait for Jennylyn — literally

Apparently, Jennylyn made Dennis nervous by napping an hour before the proposal.

In the behind-the-scenes video they shared on Jennylyn's vlog, Dennis could be seen evidently nervous and worried as Jennylyn slept beside him in bed. He was already dressed, but Jennylyn was still deep in slumber.

"Diyos ko po isang oras na lang, bakit naman nag-nap ka pa," Dennis said in his voice over. "Paano kita ngayon gigisingin, pag-aayusin? Bahala na."

He added that everything was ready except for Jennylyn.

Half an hour before the proposal was set to happen, and she was still asleep!

Dennis took this time to make sure everything was in place.
