Fewer babies were born in 2021 compared to last year, says PSA preliminary report
Fewer babies were born in 2021 in comparison to the previous year, according to a preliminary report released by the Philippine Statistics Authority on Thursday.
The report, which obtained data registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrar throughout the country, showed that 703,400 babies were born in the Philippines from January to August 2021 while 981,270 were born in the same period last year.
More deaths were also registered this year compared to the same period last year.
From January to August 2021, 486,401 deaths were registered across the country, while 400,501 deaths were registered in 2020 during the same period.
Meanwhile, 2021 saw more marriages come to life.
According to the list, 211,247 marriages were registered in 2021, while only 147,536 were registered in 2020 during the span of January to August. – RC, GMA News
