Gabbi Garcia reveals Khalil Ramos met her parents on their first date
Unlike other couples who go through the awkward “meet the parents” phase, Gabbi Garcia says the exact opposite happened with her and Khalil Ramos!
In an episode of their podcast “Figure It Out with Gabbi and Khalil,” Gabbi said that although it was unplanned, Khalil met her parents on their very first date.
The couple shared that they had their first date and saw each other in person only for the second time two years after they met in 2015.

At that time, Gabbi said her dad drove for her because she didn’t have a driver.
“Before the first date I told them [parents] about it because after my first relationship, I became so open to my parents. I wanted to be open intentionally because I wanted things to go in the right direction,” Gabbi said.
After saying that she’s meeting with Khalil, both her parents were surprisingly okay with it.
“Si Mommy nga bet ka (Mommy even liked you)!” Gabbi said to Khalil in the podcast.
“Knowing my dad, he’s so strict. For some reason it was okay for him,” she added.
“At that time they really wanted me to meet new people. A year before that I was super bagsak talaga (really super down).”
After her parents picked her up from her workshop, they both drove her to the Japanese restaurant where she and Khalil were meeting.
Gabbi recalled that they saw Khalil standing outside and waiting for her.
“In the car, my mom and dad were like, ‘ayan siya! Ayan siya (he’s there! He’s there)!’” she said.
Her parents then rolled down the car windows and greeted Khalil, which surprised him.
“On our first date, meet the parents agad (right away),” Khalil said jokingly.
Although he said he was conscious about how his hair looked, Khalil removed his cap to greet her parents.
After opening the door for her, Gabbi remembered her mom humming in approval.
“I wanted to start off right intentionally,” Khalil said.
All throughout the date, Gabbi said her mom kept messaging her and asking how her date was going.
After their date, Gabbi realized her parents had already left. Khalil offered to drive her home if she was comfortable with it.
“I love how you said that. It wasn’t so pushy, it was so respectful,” she said.
The couple said they felt like their first date set the vibe of their whole relationship.
“I think that’s the most important part: start off as friends,” Gabbi said. “That also explains why we’re very chill as a couple. We’re not as romantiko, as gigil talaga. We’re just very chill kasi from the very start we’re just chill.”
On Feb. 22, the couple celebrated their fourth anniversary together. – RC, GMA News
