LJ Reyes breaks silence on breakup: ‘Past two months have been revelation after revelation’

In an interview with Boy Abunda, LJ Reyes broke her silence and clarified why she and the kids had to leave Paolo Contis.

“The past two months have been revelation after revelation,” LJ said. “Sa gabi nagpapatulog sa kin ay praise and worship. Minsan binabangungot na ako, paano nangyari ‘yung mga bagay na nangyari? 'Di ko na mahiwalay ‘yung reality na nalaman ko, na information ng revelation sa mga tao sa paligid ko na uncover ko.”

[I can only sleep at night by listening to praise and worship. Sometimes, I get nightmares, how things unfolded. I couldn't separate reality anymore from the information, revelation I got from the people around me, from what I uncovered.]

The actress said she noticed a change in Paolo’s behavior late last year. From being a homebody, Paolo was suddenly always out of the house. While she would ask him if they were OK, LJ said Paolo would “dismiss” the conversation.

According to LJ, people would message her about seeing Paolo out and when she would ask Paolo about it, the actor, according to LJ, would only question how other people would recognize him, when he's wearing a face mask and a face shield.

“‘Kapag nagmamahal ka, alam mo. Pagkilala mo ‘yung tao, alam mo,” LJ said.

Without going into further detail, LJ said that she and the kids had to physically leave the situation.

“We left because I felt like I really need me, myself and my kids out of the situation physically para kahit papaano matulungan kami emotionally and mentally to recover and rebuild as a small family,” she said.

LJ and her kids, Aki and Summer, flew to New York City in late August, where they are currently staying with her family.

As of writing, Paolo is also no longer part of LJ’s following list on her Instagram account.

Rumors about the couple’s separation started circulating online when Paolo removed LJ’s photos on his instagram account.
