Ruffa Gutierrez gets emotional as eldest daughter Lorin starts college in California

Ruffa Gutierrez turned emotional as she sent off her eldest daughter, Lorin, to college.

According to Ruffa's Instagram post on Thursday, the 18-year-old social media star is starting her freshman year at Pepperdine University, a Christian university in Malibu, California.

Ruffa shared a few of photos from Lorin’s send-off. Ruffa's youngest daughter, Venice, was also there to bid her sister farewell.

"It was an emotional day for Venice and I as we said our temporary goodbyes to Lorin, who is off to start a new journey as a freshman at Pepperdine,” Ruffa wrote, tagging her daughters.

She also reminded her daughter to focus on her studies and “continue to persevere and live a life of purpose, service, and leadership.”

“You’ve made us so proud as we’ve watched you grow up to be the beautiful, smart, hardworking young lady you are now,” Ruffa  wrote.

Lorin replied to her mom in the comments with a simple: “love youuu.”

Congratulations also poured in from celebrity friends and family, including Marjorie Barretto, Mariel Padilla and Ruffa’s brothers Richard and Raymond. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
