Barbie Forteza says she never expected to last 4 years with Jak Roberto

Now on their fourth year as a couple, Barbie Forteza revealed that she did not expect her relationship with Jak Roberto to last this long.

In an online interview with the press for “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko” on Tuesday, the Kapuso Primetime Princess said Jak exceeded her expectations.

“Sa totoo lang, hindi ko nga inakala na tatagal talaga kami kasi hindi ko akalaing may lalaking mag-tiyaga sa akin, sa mga magulang ko, pero nakakatuwa,” she told GMA News Online.

[To be honest, I didn’t expect that we’ll last long because I didn’t think that there will be a man who would be patient with me and my parents, so I’m happy.]

“Si Jak talaga yung tipo ng lalaki na sobrang unexpected. Lahat sa kanya—the way niya ako itrato, even my family, sobrang layo sa image niya sa pagiging artista,” she added.

[Jak is the type of man who’s really unexpected. Everything about him—the way he treats me, even my family, it’s so far from his image as an actor.]

According to Barbie, her first impression of Jak was that he’s arrogant, but she realized it wasn’t true.

“Ang image niya kasi, ‘Pambansang Abs,’ ganyan,” she said. “Nami-misinterpret siya kasi may image na hunk pero ’pag nakilala mo siya, sobrang warm. Ang dali pakisamahan.”

[He has this “National Abs” image. He gets misinterpreted because he has a hunk image but when you get to know him, he’s super warm. He’s easy to be with.]

Barbie added that there’s never a dull moment with Jak and that her love life was “with flying colors” whether there’s a pandemic or not and whether they’re together or not.

Last month, a rumor spread that Barbie and Jak broke up because he forgot their “monthsary.” To which, the actress said she realized that it’s part of having a relationship that’s open to the public.

“Dahil nga we’re very open about our relationship, isa ’yan sa kailangan namin maranasan,” she said.

[Because we’re very open about our relationship, that’s one thing we have to experience.]

“Pinili namin maging open sa relationship namin kasi gusto naming i-share sa mga tao yung partner na nakakapagpasaya sa’min. Gusto naming i-share ’yon,” she added.

[We chose to be open about our relationship because we want to share to others the partner who makes us happy.]

She added that they want their relationship to be an inspiration for others to treat their relationships the way they do—without pressure, stress and full of trust and happiness.
