OFW surprises family by pretending to be a customer at their litsunan

An overseas Filipino worker who was away for three years came home and surprised his family by pretending to be a customer at their litsunan.

As reported on “State of the Nation” Wednesday, Giovanni “Gio” Canoog had his face fully covered while he talked to his mom Maria, who was taking his order.

After asking for the customer’s full name, Maria couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with joy. She then immediately pulled her son for a long, tight hug.

Gio said he did not communicate with his family for about 15 days before returning home, so his mom had been worried.

The report also said that Maria had long been asking her son, who was working in Japan, to come back home.

Gio revealed himself in the same manner to his dad Guillermo, who also got surprised but was happy upon learning of his son’s return.

Recalling how he found out, Guillermo shared that while he waited for the customer to pick a lechon, he looked at him and realized that he had taken off his cover to reveal his face.

Gio said he just wanted to show his parents how much he loved them after being away for years.

“I want to show inspiration to each one that as long as there are still parents who love us, let’s hug and show them how much we love them as much as we can,” Gio said in English and Filipino. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
