James Yap attends rites for ex-President Noynoy Aquino at Ateneo
James Yap attended the ceremonies for former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III at Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday.
The basketball player paid his respects to his erstwhile brother-in-law at the university in Quezon City, where the necrological Mass was held.
The family members, including James’ former wife Kris Aquino, were present at the ceremony to give their last farewell before the former president was laid to rest at Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.
However, as told to GMA News reporter Lei Alviz, James did not meet Kris and their 14-year-old son Bimby, saying he just wanted to pay his last respects.
James said PNoy was kind to him, and they bonded over common interests such as firing.
On Thursday, he also expressed his gratitude to the former president for “being nice” to him.
Aquino passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 61 due to renal disease secondary to diabetes. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
