How does Joey Marquez maintain his relationship with his 16 children?
Joey Marquez has 16 children with different women, but he said there is no such thing as half siblings in his family.
In an episode of “Tunay na Buhay,” the veteran actor shared that his principle to always treat each other as members of one family only made everybody's bond stronger.
“I know all my brothers and sisters. I don’t call them my half sister or brother. They’re not at fault and they’ll still be my siblings no matter what,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino.
“That’s the same principle I told [my kids]. ‘One day, you’ll be a parent, you’ll understand why I’m like this,” he added.
According to the actor’s son Yeoj with Alma Moreno, Joey would also always ask them to bond either through sports, watching movies or eating out.
“We grew up beside each other. We grew up knowing our other siblings. We had a really really good relationship with each other,” said Winwyn, Joey’s daughter with Alma Moreno.
Joey also said that he values his children’s studies a lot and is happy that he now has a psychologist, a lawyer, and an entrepreneur among his children.
“[I am] always on guard in terms of education. That’s the only thing I can promise [them] for a better life,” he said.
Joey is currently in a relationship with his non-showbiz girlfriend Malu Quintana. Even with thoughts of settling down, Joey thinks having another child would be “unfair.”
“We’re too old already. She already has a baby, anyway,” he said. “We’re okay, no regrets. It’s so nice to love.”
Apart from Winwyn and Yeoj, Joey’s other kids are JJ, Jeremy, Jesem, Christine, Jerica, Jerico, Paolo, Jowee Ann, Zia, Vitto, MM, Jazalla, Jacob and Joeygy. — Franchesca Viernes/LA, GMA News
