Jennica Garcia confirms split with husband Alwyn Uytingco

Jennica Garcia has confirmed that she and her husband Alwyn Uytingco have separated.

After much speculation, the actress confirmed the news in an exclusive interview with GMA Network.

When asked about the details of their split, Jennica declined and simply said, "That's the most that I could say right now. That's the most that I can say now. It's the reason din kasi talaga kung bakit kinailangan [ko] bumalik sa pag-a-artista (It's also the reason why I really needed to get back to acting)," she said. 

She added, "From a family-of-four, we are now just a family-of-three, sacrifices must really be made."

Now that she's a single mom, Jennica will be returning to the showbiz industry after eight years and promised that she'll be staying for a long time.

"For the past seven to eight years, what I did was, I made this decision to really focus on my kids, and to do that, hindi talaga ako puwede gumawa ng teleserye kasi three times a week ang taping noon (For the past seven to eight years, what I did was, I made this decision to really focus on my kids, and to do that, I really couldn't do television series because taping was thrice a week)," the actress said.

She added, "So ang ginagawa ko lang is guestings kung saan two to three days max 'yung trabaho. Wala kang commitment to that show for months and years. And it was working naman with our setup before (So what I would only do is guestings where the work would only be two to three days max. You don't have a commitment to that show for months and years. And it was working with our setup before)."

Despite her long absence in the industry, Jennica expressed her gratitude for GMA-7 for welcoming her "fully as an artist."

Currently, Jennica is part of GMA's afternoon drama "Las Hermanas" where she plays the role of Brenda, the antagonist of Yasmien Kurdi's character Dorothy.

Prior to Jennica's confirmation, rumors of their breakup have already circulated online following her recent posts and the actor’s noticeable absence on her social media.

Jennica, daughter of actress Jean Garcia, tied the knot with Alwyn in February 2014. Together, they have two daughters, Athena Mori and Alessi. —Kaela Malig/JCB, GMA News
