Lucy Torres, Juliana Gomez on their mother-daughter relationship: 'We try to make the communication lines open'
Lucy Torres and Juliana Gomez have always been models of a great mother-daughter relationship and in an interview with Nelson Canlas on Chika Minute Exclusive, Lucy confirmed their closeness, saying they've always been close even when Juliana was a child.
"Ginagaya ko lang how my mom was to me and my sister," Lucy said. "I always say the biggest struggle for her is how to be a parent and how to be a friend at the same time and my mother is that way to us."
According to Lucy, they always try to "make the communication lines open, even if we disagree."
"We can disagree nicely and respectfully and it won’t strain the relationship," she continued.
The 4th district representative of Leyte said she and her husband Richard Gomez "never underestimated her [Juliana's] capacity to understand."
"We are very clear about guidelines, borders, rules, curfews para walang second guessing," she added. "Richard is always very straightforward in his parenting style."
Juliana said her parents have "their own way of disciplining me and they show that also in different aspects of my life."
She says she learns about discipline from her dad through sports, adding "he’s definitely like a mentor to me more than an actual fencing coach."
"He teaches me the discipline of the sport, the right mindset more than just the technique and the technicalities of fencing," she said.
When it comes to "being a good person and respecting people," Juliana said it's both her parents who instilled it in her ever since she was a kid.
Although her parents are in showbiz and politics, Juliana said "they never made me feel that we have some kind of advantage in life just because of who they are as people or because of their line of work they’ve always given me a very normal life."
Juliana additionally said they have always taught her how not to be entitled.
Juliana is Lucy and Richard's unica hija.
