Mimiyuuuh reveals family’s battle with COVID-19

Mimiyuuuh revealed her parents struggled with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) last April, causing her to take a break from YouTube.

In a vlog, Mimiyuuuh answered why she hasn't been active on the platform by sharing that they experienced a “very traumatic incident.”

"My parents had COVID-19. COVID-19 is real,” she said in Filipino.

"To be honest, at first, I was one of the people who thought COVID-19 is a hoax. 'Yung parang hindi po siya totoo," Mimiyuuuh admitted.

"I ate everything I said because of what happened to my parents,” she added.

While her dad only suffered from mild COVID-19, Mimiyuuuh's mom experienced severe symptoms like pneumonia and shortness of breath. She had to be hospitalized.

Mimiyuuuh added that April 9 was the “worst day ever in [her] entire life” because her mom fainted on the way to the hospital.

“I thought I’ll lose my mom in front of me,” she said in Filipino. “It was overwhelming.”

Thankfully, both her parents made progress and tested negative after more than a week.

The experience made her faith stronger, Mimiyuuuh said. It made her realize that it’s okay to let one’s feelings out every once in a while.

“I’m not someone who shares her problems with other people because I really believe I’m strong and I don’t want people to be burdened,” she said.

“But no matter how strong we are, we’ll still break. We all have weaknesses. It’s okay to be vulnerable for some time because you’re human.”

While her parents were isolated, Mimiyuuuh shared that she went someplace else to continue protecting everyone in their family.

“As a breadwinner, I really need to protect myself. I can’t get sick,” she said. “I need to be strong because if something bad happens to me, what will my family do?”

Now in a better state, Mimiyuuuh is set to bring more entertaining and fun content for her supporters. “I’m so done with April and I’m back for May.”

Towards the end of her vlog, she thanked the health workers who helped their family.

“They really deserve the best. The sacrifice they give is intense. They give their life for their work just to save other people.”

Mimiyuuuh also reminded everyone to take care of themselves by drinking vitamins. “I hope you’ll never experience what we experienced.”
