Here's how Iya Villania is disciplining her kids. It includes apologizing to them when she's wrong

Iya Villania shared some of disciplining methods she's taken to for her children, saying she tries "not to be too quick to react."

The Chika Minute host told GMA News Online that she first tries to understand the intention. "If I see that something was done intentionally to upset another person, Drew and I try to explain in the most calm manner."

Iya admits though that there are "many times we have to catch ourselves out in the midst of frustration or anger, but we really try to explain with love."

"I do believe in tough love but I think there are appropriate disciplining styles for different situations," she added.

The Kapuso host said just like most mothers, she experiences mom guilt, especially during "moments I reacted too quickly only to discover there was good intention behind something they did that may have just turned out wrong."

"Like if water was spilt but ‘yun pala, it was because one was just trying to give water to his brother or sister," she said. "Or Primo spills the flour but it’s because he’s trying to help and is curious to see what will happen."

Interestingly, Iya revealed apologizing to her children when she makes a mistake.

"I'll admit I’m wrong and apologize to my children and explain why I reacted the way I did," she said.

According to Iya, her perspective on motherhood has changed now that she is raising three kids. "I used to think that having three would be harder than having two, but you get to three and then you just want more children! Haha!"

"Somehow it becomes easier! I don’t know how but it’s now that I have three that we’ve had the courage to try something like camping!" She adds.

Iya said whenever she sees "the kids interacting and then just think, wouldn’t it be great if there were more of them to enjoy each other’s company?!"

Iya tied the knot with her husband Drew Arellano in 2014. They have three children: Primo, Leon and Baby Alana who they just welcomed in the world last July. — LA, GMA News
