In an online interview with the press, Thursday, her eldest daughter surprised her with a Mother's Day message, saying she's very thankful for everything Pokwang has done for her.

"You're so strong. You raised me all by yourself. Hopefully, in time, I'll be as strong as you. Thank you for everything," Mae Subong, 21, said.

The comedienne immediately became emotional and said that even though she went through a lot, "every child is a blessing."

"I don't regret being a single mom. I can give you my life multiple times. That's how much I love you," Pokwang said in Filipino.

Set to play the lead role in "Mommy Issues," Pokwang said she had to review the character carefully because she's is different in real life.

Apart from not falling in love with someone younger, Pokwang said she's not as controlling as her character.

"Me as a mom in real life, I'm entertain challenges and I'm not super strict, I’m not super lax," she said. "I balance my strictness and my being a comedian."

Pokwang, who is celebrating Mother's Day for the first time without her mother, said that she and her family will keep her in their hearts by praying on the occasion.

Mae is the comedienne's firstborn with a former partner. Pokwang is currently married to Lee O'Brian and the couple welcomed their first child together in 2018.

"Mommy Issues" is Regal Entertainment’s offering for Mother's Day and will premiere on May 7.

Directed by Jose Javier Reyes, it will also star Gloria Diaz, Sue Ramirez, Jerome Ponce, and Ryan Bang.
