Barbie Forteza reveals father had operation while she was in locked-in taping: ‘I felt so helpless’
Barbie Forteza revealed that her father had to undergo an operation while she was in a lock-in taping last year for “Anak ni Waray vs. Anay ni Biday.”
During the “I Can See You: The Lookout” online press conference on Friday, Barbie said her father had always been healthy, but at the time he suddenly needed help, she could not even go home.
“’Yung tatay ko na never nagkasakit, kung kailan ako nag-lock-in taping na hindi pwede bumiyahe umuwi, tiyaka siya nangangailangan magpa-opera sa appendix,” Barbie said.
[My father never got sick, but just when I was in lock-in taping and couldn’t go home, that’s when he needed an operation for his appendix.]
The actress said she and her other family members looked for hospitals that would accept her father amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“’Di ako makapagfocus ng maayos ... Napaka helpless ko. Wala ako magawa sa family ko (I couldn’t focus properly ... I felt so helpless. I couldn’t do anything for my family),” she said.
Fortunately, her father was eventually admitted at a hospital and had his surgery. According to Barbie, her father is doing better now.
Barbie will star with Paul Salas on “I Can See You: The Lookout,” a mini series about a girl who is supposed to steal from a wealthy family but finds herself walking in another dangerous home invasion.
