Shailene Woodley confirms she’s getting married
It’s official: Shailene Woodley is getting married to American football star Aaron Rodgers.
The “Fault in Our Stars” actress confirmed her engagement to the Green Bay Packers quarterback Monday night on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Kimmel.”
“I have a lot of questions. One is that I keep reading that you are engaged to football great Aaron Rodgers. Is that true? Are congratulations in order?” Fallon asked his guest in a virtual interview.
“I’ve been reading that too, which is kind of — it’s kind of funny,” Woodley said.
“Yes, we are engaged,” she added. “We are engaged. But for us, it’s not new news. So it’s kind of funny everybody right now is freaking out over it, and we’re like, ‘Yeah, we’ve been engaged for a while.’”
Woodley indulged Fallon with juicy details about her relationship with the athlete, including the fact that she didn't really know much about Rodgers or his profession at first.
“It was never really on my radar,” she told Fallon.
“I knew he was a football guy, but I didn’t know what kind of a football guy he was? Friends [would say,] ‘You’ve got to watch his YouTube greatest,’ and I was like, ‘I don’t get it. He’s good? He’s great? Like, I don’t understand.’”
Shailene shared that even her dog approves of her fiancé.
“He’s ... a wonderful, incredible human being, but I never thought I’d be engaged to somebody who threw balls for a living,” Woodley joked.
“But he’s really so good at it. ... When I first met him, my dog pulled me aside and was like, ‘If you don’t date this dude, I will disown you as my mother, because the three feet that I run with you when you throw a ball is nothing compared to the marathon I’m able to run with him’,” she added.
Shailene Woodley is a Golden Globe-nominated actress known for roles such as Hazel Grace in the film “Fault in Our Stars” and Tris Prior in. “Divergent,” followed by its sequels “Insurgent“ and “Allegiant.”
Rumors about her engagement to Rodgers began to spread after the football player gave a shoutout to an unnamed fiancee while accepting the National Football League (NFL) MVP award earlier this month. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
