Flight attendants tie knot 30,000 ft above land in ‘1st wedding onboard commercial aircraft’ in PHL

Love is definitely in the air!

A couple made history as they said their I dos 30,000 feet above land in a ceremony now considered the first ever wedding that occurred onboard a commercial aircraft in the Philippines.

Kristoffer Rustia and Micah Cura, who both worked as flight attendants for AirAsia, held their wedding ceremony onboard flight Z2 225 bound for Caticlan, Boracay, as mentioned on AirAsia’s website on Friday.

Complete with intricate flowers lining her path, Micah walked down the plane’s aisle in a beautiful white dress as Kristoffer waited on the other side. Their loved ones were also passengers on the flight and witnessed the couple exchange vows.

According to the couple, they’ve always dreamt of getting married in flight since they were both cabin crew members themselves.

“As crazy as it may seem, I envisioned Micah walking down the aisle in one of our flights wearing her lovely gown, not her cabin crew uniform,” shared Kristoffer. He said “it seemed like it would be impossible, knowing that we work as flight attendants,” but their company made it happen.

“Topy and I are grateful beyond words. It’s one thing to get married, it's another to fulfill that dream in a place where we started our journey together—inside the aircraft. Our prayer is that we are able to inspire people to just hang on, and never lose hope because there are still many things to be thankful for, despite the many challenges brought by the pandemic.”

Kristoffer and Micah studied at the same university but they met each other only when they joined their initial cabin crew training in Malaysia in 2018.

The couple, who welcomed their baby girl in 2019, got engaged in December 2020. Now, Kristoffer and Micah are set to spend their honeymoon in Boracay. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
