Chito Miranda to men intimidated by partners’ success: ‘You’re in this together; doesn’t matter who earns more’

Parokya Ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda has said that men should not be intimidated if their partners have successful careers or receive higher income.

During a “Share Ko Lang” episode, the band singer said he did not understand the mentality at all.

“I don’t really understand why they are intimidated. Maybe because sa kultura natin, men are the providers, tapos nakakalalaki ’pag mas malaki kita ng babae. Ganoon ba ’yun?” he said.

“Maybe gusto nila ako dapat ang kikita or maybe nakakahiya sa family niyo na sinusuportahan ako ng asawa ko,” he added.

“Pero I think first of all, lagay nila sa utak nila na you’re in this together and it doesn’t ... hindi na masyadong nagma-matter now who works, meaning who earns more, kasi just think of it as a team.”

Chito said his wife Neri Naig had been thriving with her online businesses. Just this September, Neri was able to buy a condominium unit by the sea with her earnings.

“Support lang for things to work out for both of you, kasi sa pagtagal it will be beneficial for everyone kasi masaya kayo lahat, e, walang sisihan,” he said.

Giving an example, Chito said he wanted to buy a lot within their village but when the pandemic hit and his gigs stopped, he had to budget his finances.

“’Yung wife ko ang ginawa niya binili niya, so parang tulungan. Hindi ako nasaktan. Nagalingan ako sa asawa ko,” he said.

“How can you not appreciate that? ’Yun lang. I’m just basing it on my experience kasi I cannot talk, I cannot speak for everyone.”
