Expert gives advice to LDR couples: ‘Love is a practice, not a feeling’

With the ongoing pandemic, many couples are suddenly finding themselves in long-distance relationships, and some of them not by choice.

Sharing her advice on GMA Public Affairs’ “Share Ko Lang,” psychologist Dr. Anna Tuazon said LDR couples should remember that “love is a practice, not a feeling.”

Interviewing Glaiza de Castro, who has been in a long-distance relationship with her Irish boyfriend David Rainey since 2018, Anna said: “Love is a practice, not a feeling. It’s a discipline. It’s an action. It’s commitment.”

She also said couples could get the best of both worlds by coming to a synthesis, where both individuals don’t necessarily have to give up the things important to them just to make the relationship work.

“’Di ba, instead of Path 1 or Path 2, what is Path 3 here? What is the middle path? Is there a way that you can be, for example, you may now have multiple bases, multiple homes,” the doctor said. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
