Vlogger Emman Nimedez dies, loses battle with leukemia
Popular vlogger Emman Nimedez passed away before dawn on Sunday after battling acute myeloid leukemia.
The news was confirmed by his girlfriend Peachy Santos in a post on Nimedez' official page on Facebook.
"Our beloved Emman Nimedez joined our Creator at 1:00am today, August 16, 2020, Sunday. He was with his family during the time of his passing at St. Luke's Medical Center - Quezon City," Santos wrote.
"Our family is thankful to everyone who offered prayers and showed support," she added.
"Funeral details will be announced in the next days. We hope everyone will respect the family's privacy to mourn the passing of Emman. Thank you," Santos added.
On Friday, Nimedez was in critical condition after he encountered kidney failure and blood complications.
In May, the YouTube star revealed that he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia but fortunately tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Nimedez said then this would be his toughest battle yet, but assured his followers that he would be strong and positive all throughout.
“Ito na ‘yong pinakamatindi na laban na kakaharapin ko at sinasabi ko sa inyo ngayon, lahat ginagawa ko para manatiling matibay, maging handa at higit sa lahat, maging malakas kasi kailangan eh,” he said.
"Hayaan niyo lang akong isama kayo sa laban na 'to para makita niyo lahat ng ibabato sa ating hamon, pagsubok, kakayanin. Basta diretso lang tingin natin sa buhay at tsaka positibo tayo," Nimedez added.
Nimedez started making videos on YouTube in 2011. He became popular in 2017 after his parody videos went viral on the internet.
As of posting time, his YouTube channel has 2.18 million subscribers. —KG, GMA News
