Harmonica-playing lola in Negros Occidental may be the world's oldest living person
A woman in Negros Occidental may just be the world's oldest living person.
According to Oscar Oida's report for "24 Oras," Lola Francisca Susano is 122 years old. Her life spans every single president of the Philippines, all the way from Emilio Aguinaldo.
When asked about her secret to a long life, her granddaughter Marlene Montes shared that Lola Iska takes care of her health really well.
"Nag-play siya ng harmonica para sa kanyang lung exercise every morning," she said. "Then kung minsan sinasabihan ko siya na magkanta kaming dalawa kasi palagi 'yang kumakanta."
Lola Iska also tries to do a little basic stretching despite her advanced age. In terms of diet, she eats her meals on time and likes vegetables such as squash, eggplant, okra, and gabi. She also drinks honey.
With the coronavirus pandemic, Marlene said their family takes precautions to make sure Lola Iska is safe.
"Before kami magpunta dun sa bahay ni Lola naliligo muna kami, naglalagay kami ng alcohol before kami mag-enter sa bahay ni Lola," she said.
The Gerontology Research Group is still verifying Lola Iska's documents with the help of the government before she can be declared by the Guinness World Records as the oldest living person. —MGP, GMA News
