Michelle Dee reveals her two siblings with autism drive her to fight for awareness

Beauty, brains, and definitely, heart.

Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee has always been vocal about her passion to fight for autism awareness, even before the start of her Miss World journey,

And now that she's set to compete in the 69th Miss World, Michelle vows to bring her advocacy to an international level.

Asked what drove her to be passionate about this issue, the beauty queen answered it was her two siblings diagnosed with autism that inspired her.

During the send-off conference at the Nanka Japanese Steakhouse, Quezon City on Wednesday, Michelle revealed, "I have two autistic siblings — one older, one younger. I've seen firsthand the struggles that they went through, the lack of inclusivity that we have in the country, the lack of resources and laws that protect them, and it's because of them that this has turned into a life-long mission for me."

Michelle added that if she would be given the platform of Miss World, she would be able to further shed light and raise awareness about autism.

Michelle is set to fly off to London, United Kingdom on November 19.

The Miss World 2019 will be telecast live via satellite on GMA 7 on December 14 at 10pm. — LA, GMA News
