Siblings topnotchers in Physician Licensure Exam; parents on 'cloud nine'

After their three children became topnotchers in their respective batches of Physician Licensure Examination passers, a couple who are both doctors said they are on "cloud nine" during a television interview Tuesday.

Interviewed on Unang Balita, Eric and Ana Peralta could not help but express their joy for their children's success.

“Sobrang happy. We're on cloud nine. Hindi ko madi-define yung feeling kasi yung isa nagkaroon, yung pangalawa ganun din. Pero ito yung ultimate, finale top 1 pa. Ang sarap ng feeling,” Ana said.

“Yung magtaguyod ka lang isang doctor, ang laki na ng hirap na pinagdaanan namin. Pero sinulit nilang lahat yung  pinaghirapan namin,” Eric, for his part, said

According to the eldest, Bianca, there is no pressure in pursuing a medical career even if their parents are both doctors. She said they just consider their parents as inspirations.

Eryka said that at an early age, they were already exposed to the profession because of their parents.

The youngest, Federico, who topped the Physician Licensure Exam this year, admitted that he was having second thoughts in pursuing the education for this career at first because of the long years needed. But he said being a doctor would be more fulfilling for him.

Federico advised aspiring doctors to make sure that they really have the passion for the profession  and to study hard to succeed.

Ana, meanwhile, encouraged other parents to support their children despite their busy work.

“Give all the support that you can give to your children. No matter how busy you are, find time para talagang masuportahan,” she said. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
