Melanie Marquez on daughter Michelle Dee’s bid for a crown: ‘I’m really nervous but I’m not doubting her’
Melanie Marquez arrived at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday evening early for the Miss World Philippines coronation night. She had with her placards, eager to show support for daughter Michelle Dee.
Speaking to GMA News Online, the former beauty queen said she’s “really, really nervous, but I’m not doubting my daughter.”

According to Melanie, the only advice she told Michelle was to “just pray. If it’s for you, God will give it to you.”
Said the Miss International 1979, she will never force her daughter to join beauty pageants. “I told her, if you’re not ready, don’t join. But if you are, go for it. I will be more than 100% [behind you].”

Melanie said she told Michelle to do it “mentally, physically and emotionally para walang doubts.”
