Joyce Pring talks about the 'father she never knew' in an online Fil-Am magazine
"The Clash" host and Kapuso actor Joyce Pring was recently featured on The FilAm, a Filipino American magazine based in New York, where she revealed what she knew about her father, the legendary police officer Joe Pring.
“Honestly, I did not know him," Joyce said. “All I know is that he was a very valiant man, a man of honor and of great courage.”
The magazine revealed that her father had a "mercurial track record" as a law enforcer. On his way to work in 1994, he was assassinated. Joyce was only 2 years old then.
According to The FilAm, Joe had been linked to kidnap-for-ransom groups. A movie about him, "Joe Pring" was released in 1989. It was topbilled by Philip Salvador.
Joyce shared with The FilAm that she grew up with her stepfather, a Filipino with Indian ethnicity Chandro Uttamchandani. "He and my mom got together when I was 5 [years old]. My step dad is my hero," Joyce said.
A scholar in Quezon City High School, Joyce took up Fine Arts in the University of the Philippines in college.
She recently took a vacation in New York after the season ending of "The Clash" where she was host, she flew back to Manila and has hosted The Color Run on Sunday.
