Kathryna Yu initially rejected husband Koko Pimentel's moves
Kathryna Yu-Pimentel initially rejected the moves of Senator Aquilino Pimentel III, whom she married on October 18.
Yu-Pimentel did not show up when Pimentel invited her for a lunch meeting thinking that he is a ‘bolero.’
“Kasi pulitiko usually, I thought bolero lang, hindi naman serious,” she said in an interview over ANC television Tuesday.
She said she first met the senator in May 2013, at his victory party.
“I was a caterer, he asked for my number from a friend because he wanted to inquire daw about my menu. So he texted me if I can give him a menu. I told him that I would just send through e-mail but he said if we could meet for lunch and give him the menu personally,” she recalled.
Yu-Pimentel said at that time she didn't want to waste her time.
“For me, I don’t want waste my time na hindi rin ganun ka sure,” she said.
But the senator was persistent and would text her every day and would even send her food from different parts of the country.
“Yung sweetest text niya is nagse-session sila, but he said ‘Can't take you off my mind’,” she said.
By the end of the 2013, Pimentel told Kathryna that she should not go on date with other men.
“Gusto niya, exclusive na raw,” she said.
Asked what attracted him to Kathryna, Pimentel replied her lady-like demeanor.
“When I first saw her it was actually the first impression, the look, very lady-like demeanor. I also like the beauty,” he said.
The senator admitted that it was the first time he showed interest to a woman after he parted ways with estranged wife Jewel Mae Lobaton in 2011.
“First time to be interested in the sense that maybe there is a future in store for me with this person,” he said.
He described his relationship with Yu-Pimentel as “true love which is gonna last forever.”
Pimentel added that he worked for the annulment of his marriage with Lobaton because “I knew I had found my true love.” The senator’s marriage with Lobaton was annulled earlier this year.
Kathryna and Pimentel tied the knot in a civil ceremony last week. No less than President Rodrigo Duterte and the senators were present. — LA/RSJ, GMA News
