Bb. Cebu candidate wins people over for openly talking about her girlfriend onstage
Love is love and Maria Izobel Taguiam chose to speak about it openly.
Taguiam represented Tabogon in the first ever Binibining Cebu pageant and she made it to the interview portion as part of the Top 12.
Taguiam's question was about relationships, which prompted host Miss Earth 2008 Karla Henry to first ask: "Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Yes, but not a boyfriend but a girlfriend. Because I believe love does not see gender and if you love that someone, go for it," Taguiam had responded, which according to Cebu Daily News was met with applause and cheers from the audience.

Taguiam failed to make the next cut, but she nevertheless celebrated her accomplishment and in a Facebook post declared that she has no regrets about her answer.
"I will never hesitate to tell people about my sexuality, I wanted to be honest and I dont want to say things na I dont really mean," the beauty queen shared.
She tagged her girlfriend MJ Lequin, who she said went through a lot during the pageant as well.
On her own wall, MJ wrote, "You may have not won the crown as the first Binibining Cebu, but tonight you won everyones heart, and my heart. I AM SO LUCKY TO HAVE YOU Maria Izobel Taguiam."
