3 classrooms being built in Benguet by GMA Kapuso Foundation almost finished

The three new classrooms being constructed by the GMA Kapuso Foundation in Cotcot Talabis Elementary School in Buguias, Benguet are almost finished.

According to "24 Oras" Friday, the classrooms were built to support the children of farmers. These farmers' harvest were hit by drought, typhoons, and landslides in 2023.

"The parents are cooperative, aside from the parents meron po 'yung mga ibang stakeholders na tumutulong din," said Emmaclaire Lad-ey, school head of Cotcot Talabis Elementary School.

"Gustong-gusto namin matuloy yung paaralan kasi talagang mahalaga sa amin 'yung pag-aaral ng anak namin," also said Robinson Valles, a farmer.

The construction of the classrooms began in November 2024, but it had to be halted after the area was hit by a landslide due to Typhoon Pepito. The site is safe anew after reinforcements were done on the classrooms.

"Itong ginawa nating riprap ngayon, reinforced concrete siya. 'Yung footing niya, foundation, may bakal na. May poste, may bim.  Wala nang ikabahala po," said Engr. Cliver Esteban, Buguias Municipal Engineer, noting that they added more protection on the structure to ensure its safety

Meanwhile, Engr. Baltazar Babas, project consultant of GMA Kapuso Foundation, assured, "'Yung slope nung slab nila ngayon, hindi na papunta sa labas. There is no chance that the water will overflow."

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
