'Balota' is among Netflix's Top 10 non-English movies worldwide

"Balota" starring Marian Rivera has landed on Netflix's list of "Top 10-Non English Movies Worldwide."

As seen in a post by GMA Pictures, the Cinemalaya 2024 entry currently ranks eighth on the list.

Previously, the Kapuso Primetime Queen expressed her gratitude as "Balota" hit the no. 1 spot in Philippines movies shortly after it premiered on Netflix on January 31.

As of this writing, "Balota" is currently ranked second on the streaming giant's "Top 10 Movies in the Philippines Today."

Directed by Kip Oebanda, "Balota" premiered at Cinemalaya 2024 and had a nationwide theatrical release with a new cut in October.

It follows the story of a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town. When violence erupts, a teacher runs into the forest with a ballot box containing the last copy of the election results.

Marian won her first-ever Best Actress award at the Cinemalaya Film Festival for her performance in the film as Teacher Emmy. She shared the award with Gabby Padilla.
