Bianca Umali and her Lola Vicky recall humble beginnings in showbiz

Bianca Umali and her Lola Vicky guested on Thursday's episode of "Lutong Bahay" where they looked back on her humble beginnings in showbiz.

While cooking adobo with Mikee Quintos and Kuya Dudut, Bianca opened up that there were times back then when they would get "a little bullied," but her grandma never fought back.

"Kami talaga rin kasi 'yung pinakabago nun," she said.

Lola Vicky added that when Bianca was starting out in showbiz, they would usually stay on the floor during tapings while others would have their own beds.

"Pagka may taping sila, meron silang mga kama, eh kami hindi. Nandun lang kami sa sahig, pero sandali lang 'yun tapos nakabangon na siya. Sumikat na rin," Lola Vicky said.

Bianca also shared that Lola Vicky would always tell her then that her own time will come.

"I think it was those times na she would see me looking, may mga ganung moment eh 'di ba 'yung makikita mo nakatingin 'yung bata," she said.

"Kasi nga na-instill sa 'min ni mama [Vicky] na kung ano 'yung wala ka, eh wala eh. Paghirapan mo para magkaroon ka and that was okay. We were happy as long as alam namin na mama was there."

Meanwhile, Mikee commended and thanked Bianca for being herself and for inspiring her the people around her.

"Sa lahat ng show na ginagawa mo, lahat ng characters na pina-play mo, ni-le-level up mo 'yung standards ng industriya and because of your work and 'yung dedication mo lahat kaming nakakatrabaho mo gusto din naming galingan," the "Lutong Bahay" host said.

"Kahit kami na-i-inspire mo, wala kang sinasabi, hindi mo diretsong sinasabi, pero you're just being you. You're not even trying. 'Yun 'yung epekto mo sa 'min and thank you na ganun ka."

Bianca, for her part, shared that Lola Vicky is the driving force behind everything she does.

"Para sa kaniya lahat 'to eh," she said. "Utang ko sa kaniya 'yung buhay ko and paulit-ulit ko ipangangalandakan na lola's girl ako kasi wala ako sa kinaroroonan ko kundi dahil sa kaniya eh."

Catch "Lutong Bahay" on weekdays at 5:45 p.m. on GTV.
