'Into the Woods' musical is coming to the Philippines in August

Theater fans, here's another musical treat for you!

The hit Broadway musical "Into The Woods" will have a Philippine staging this August, Theatre Group Asia (TGA) has announced.

Ticketing details have yet to be announced but the musical will be staged at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati.

Created by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, the 1986 musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales such as "Jack and the Beanstalk," "Cinderella," "Rapunzel," and "Little Red Riding Hood."

A Disney film adaptation, directed by Rob Marshall, was released in 2014 which starred Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt, and Johnny Depp, among others.
