Which places are first and last to welcome the New Year? Kuya Kim answers
Do you know which places celebrate the New Year first and which gets to welcome it last?
According to Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, the Kiritimati Island in the Republic of Kiribati already marked the New Year while it was just 6 p.m. in the Philippines.
This makes the island and 10 more atolls in the Central Pacific Ocean, including Kingman, Palmyra, Teraina, Tabuaeran, Jarvis, Malden, and more, the first to welcome 2025.
They are then followed by areas in New Zealand, including Chatham Islands, Auckland, and Wellington.
Meanwhile, the Philippines will celebrate the New Year at the same time as Beijing in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
The last inhabited place that will mark the New Year are the islands of Niue and American Samoa in the South Pacific, but the last to really welcome 2025 are the remote and uninhabited islands of Baker and Howland.
